When you come visit us, we will discuss which options work the best for you as you select your glasses.

Varilux progressive lenses provide clear vision at all distances without the age-old bifocal lines.  Varilux lenses are specifically designed for people over 40 who experience presbyopia – a condition in which near vision (needed when reading, sewing or working at the computer) becomes increasingly blurred with age.  Varilux enables you to see near, far and everything in-between and look fabulous at the same time.

DEFINITY is a digitally designed progressive lens that uses both sides of the lens to create a progressive lens that is as close to a regular, single-vision lens as you can get. This means that you have less distortion throughout your lenses, giving you:

Wider Intermediate Zone Across all Three Zones
  • Helps with computer use, looking at your dashboard while driving, or seeing things between 18 inches and 6 feet away
  • DEFINITY allows your eyes to move naturally, as opposed to other progressive lenses, which cause people to move their head to see side to side, or what is at their feet
Smoother Transitions
  • With DEFINITY you will be able to transition between zones more naturally
  • It makes wearing DEFINITY easy and comfortable from the moment you put them on
Least Amount of Peripheral Distortion
  • Unwanted astigmatism is distributed over twice the area
  • Allows the minimizing of distortion or bluring of images at all distances
  • Reduces discomfort of the eye
The GROUND VIEW ADVANTAGE™
  • An additional zone of vision at the bottom and sides of your lenses, unique to DEFINITY
  • Allows you to see better when looking down at the ground
  • Enhances vision for everyday activities like going up and down stairs, escalators, computer use and driving
  • Makes demanding activities easier like golfing, hiking, biking, tennis and more

POLARIZED SUNGLASSES

Polarized lenses are used in sunglasses to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as the surface of a lake or the hood of a car. They accomplish this feat through a process called polarization, much like a venetian blind controls sunlight through a window.  Sunlight itself is not polarized – light from the sun will either be absorbed or reflected horizontally, diagonally or vertically. The problem this causes for fishermen and drivers lies in the horizontal reflectivity. Sunlight bouncing off a horizontal surface will strike the viewer’s eyes at a similar angle. This means the glare from the surface of the water or the road or the car hood will be strong. Polarized lenses have a laminated surface containing vertical stripes. These stripes only allow vertically-polarized light to enter the wearer’s eyes. Glare is eliminated because the horizontally-polarized lightwaves cannot bypass the polarized filter.
